Gospel

God will administer justice to His chosen ones who cry out to Him.

From the Gospel according to Luke. Lk 18:1-8

Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said, “There was a judge in a certain town
who neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, ‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’ For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, ‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.’”
The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

The Gospel of the Lord.

Justice!

Many times, I want to enforce justice. That’s why I am demanding, that’s why I defend myself, that’s why I get angry… Anger enters due to the desire for justice in my heart. That desire is good, God has placed it in me, but the path to achieve justice is not to demand it or impose my own. The path is to ask it of God and be gentle, patient, persevering, with the faith that He will do it without delay. Will this faith be found in me? Blessed are the meek.

Applied to marriged life:

David: I want to be meek, but I can’t achieve it. My passions drag me in the face of what I consider injustice, and anger takes over me. I would like to control it, and I make resolutions, but I can’t achieve them.

Carmel: That’s because your lack faith.

David: I don’t understand… What does faith have to do with this?

Carmel: It’s okay to set resolutions, but you also have to ask for it insistently, with the double assurance that God will give you meekness and that He will be the one to administer justice. How will He give you meekness if you don’t believe that He will administer justice, and you have to impose it yourself?

David: You’re right, Carmel. Now I understand. I lack faith. I will ask the Lord day and night until He administers justice. Thank you, Carmel. Thank you, Lord.

Mother,

Increase my faith. Lord, administer justice to me. I trust in you.
