How Comfortable It Is. Reflection for marriages: Luke 2:41-51

GOSPEL

Mary stored up all these things in her heart
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lk 2:41-51
Every year the parents of Jesus used to go to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up for the feast as usual. When they were on their way home after the feast, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it. They assumed he was with the caravan, and it was only after a day’s journey that they went to look for him among their relations and acquaintances. When they failed to find him they went back to Jerusalem looking for him everywhere.
Three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the doctors, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. They were overcome when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My child, why have you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking for you.’
‘Why were you looking for me?’ he replied. ‘Did you not know that I must be busy with my Father’s affairs?’ But they did not understand what he meant.
He then went down with them and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority. His mother stored up all these things in her heart.
The Gospel of the Lord
How Comfortable It Is
Today we celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And what does the Gospel reveal about Her precious Heart? It shows that She kept only the things of God there, even if She understood little or nothing at all, as this Gospel explicitly states: “They did not understand what He said to them.”
Let us live in the Heart of Mary, where everything smells of God, tastes of God, and leads us to God. I love it!
Applied to Married Life:

(Before their consecration to the Heart of Mary):
Myriam: I don’t understand why my husband is so harsh with me. God should have given me someone more sensitive because he makes me suffer so much…
George: I don’t understand why my wife blames me for her sufferings when I don’t see myself as the cause. She brings it upon herself with her interpretations…

(After their Consecration to the Heart of Mary):
Myriam: Thank you, Mother, for teaching me to love my husband as God wants. I suffered a lot until my sensitivity was purified, and I learned to look at him with affection in his lack of delicacy until he learned to be gentle through God’s grace, through you.
George: Thank you, Mother, for introducing me to Your Heart and showing me my wife’s delicate heart. It required much purifying patience and understanding, but now I almost understand her, and she understands me too. Now we both understand God’s plan for us.

Mother,
How comfortable it is in Your Immaculate Heart. It is so pure that it purifies, so sweet that it sweetens, so tender that it softens… And at the same time so firm that it strengthens us and so faithful that it makes us faithful in the Love of Christ.
Praise be to God for the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
