GOSPEL OF THE DAY

From the Gospel according to John

Jn 2:13-22

Since the Passover of the Jews was near,

Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,

as well as the money-changers seated there.

He made a whip out of cords

and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,

and spilled the coins of the money-changers

and overturned their tables,

and to those who sold doves he said,

“Take these out of here,

and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

His disciples recalled the words of Scripture,

Zeal for your house will consume me.

At this the Jews answered and said to him,

“What sign can you show us for doing this?”

Jesus answered and said to them,

“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”

The Jews said,

“This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,

and you will raise it up in three days?”

But he was speaking about the temple of his Body.

Therefore, when he was raised from the dead,

his disciples remembered that he had said this,

and they came to believe the Scripture

and the word Jesus had spoken.

The word of the Lord

In Every Corner

Jesus gave His human Body so that He could be Sacramentally present in every corner of the world today. It’s wonderful to be in front of the Blessed Sacrament in Paraguay today, and just a few days ago to have been able to adore Him in Buenos Aires. And… how much have we received from Him! Thank you, Lord, for giving us Your Body, without it, we cannot do anything.

Applied to Married Life

Lorenzo: I’m so amazed when I admire your wonderful body…

Catalina: Well, it’s not quite what it used to be; it’s a bit old now.

Lorenzo: That doesn’t matter. It still has an impressive grandeur and beauty because it’s the temple of the Holy Spirit. Thank God, He has given me the eyes to honour it. Catalina: I love how you look at me now. Your gaze seems so delicate and pure. I feel as if God is looking at me through you.

Lorenzo: Praised be God. Catalina: Praised be He forever.

Mother,

In your womb, the Body of Christ was formed. Thank you, Mother, for bringing us such an immense gift. Praised be God.
